"Amber’s touch is warm, intuitive and well-paced. I had the sense that she enjoyed the work - when that comes through in your touch, your clients know." - Dina B.

I provide relaxing massage and bodywork to address individual needs, specializing in work that supports ease of movement throughout the body. Sessions are developed to help you achieve optimal range of motion, with consideration for your personal health history and regular activities. Typical treatment is based on a strong foundation of Swedish, and uniquely integrated with complementary techniques from multiple modalities. My education in massage is also supported by my knowledge and experience of other physical disciplines, such as yoga, pilates, dance, and martial arts.

"Amber is very knowledgeable and thorough. She is always trying out new techniques, but still is aware of what my body needs." - Ellen D.

More about Amber Way:

"Amber is very confident."

"I was listened to."

"I trust Amber."

At the heart of Amber Way Massage & Bodywork is structural balance and movement. We all use our bodies in different ways (athletics, artistic performance, manual work, etc.) that require the ability to move freely without pain. Among the great benefits of massage is the balancing of muscle tension which can improve postural alignment and restore functional mobility.

The Amber Way approach to massage and bodywork is guided by these central ideals: excellence, efficiency, and effect.

Excellent massage requires more than excellent technique.

From my own experiences with receiving massage, I learned that technical proficiency alone is not enough to create a satisfying experience for the client. As in so many aims, it takes good communication (including attentive listening) and genuine heart to achieve excellence in massage. At Amber Way, clients are treated as an equal participant in their sessions; and I am always attentive for cues that direct me towards the best way to treat body, mind, and spirit.

"I had a gut feeling of safety & integrity. [Amber's massage] linked my spirit back to my body." - Jennifer P.

"Amber’s communication is exceptional. I relax instantly and completely." - David L.

Efficient massage is both relaxing and therapeutic.

It remains a mystery to me why some practitioners believe that 'relaxation' or 'wellness' massage is exclusive to 'clinical' or 'treatment' massage. At Amber Way, massage is the treatment - no matter what the goals may be for your session. Wanting to relax is no less valid as a 'treatment' goal than wanting to relieve low back pain; and a practitioner can hardly succeed in relieving pain if the client is not also relaxed!

"I didn’t feel particularly tense, sore, or in pain when I started. But I felt SO much better and more relaxed when [Amber] was done." - Scott C

"Amber achieved more than I thought possible in an hour."  - Meredith B

Effective massage creates change without creating pain.

The more I learn, the more I encounter techniques that rely on firm but gentle touch. The body does not generally respond well to force; and a slower pace is often required to work with deeper tissues. Although clients may experience intense sensation from some types of bodywork, it is never my intention to exceed the tolerance of each individual. Even the slightest discomfort can prompt a protective "guarding" response in the body, making any massage technique ineffective. The Amber Way strives to attain therapeutic quality without causing clients to withdraw from being touched.

"The speed and pacing was great. I have never had anyone take so much time for a slow stroke up the spine, and I LOVED IT!!!" - Hilery A

"It was awesome! Relaxing, and yet the deep muscle work was present as well. Amber has a great touch." - Jackie G
